If you are repairing your own TV be aware that ESD or electro-static discharge can be a problem. Always touch a safe metal object before touching any electronic components of the TV to prevent passing on an ESD that can irreversibly damage the component.

Since your TV does have high voltage capacitors within its components, before any type of repair or replacement of parts is started it is important to drain these capacitors of electricity. A high wattage resistor can be used to drain these components and prevent a potentially dangerous shock.

There is the potential of getting a severe shock when poking around in the back of your television, even if it is not plugged in. Always check to make sure any capacitors are drained as well as stand on properly insulated flooring and take safety precautions with regards to handling the television components.
